Overview

Let us tell you about the opportunity

Are you a strategic and commercially astute risk professional with a passion for leadership collaboration and driving continuous improvement? We are currently recruiting a Portfolio Risk Manager, a pivotal first-line leadership role shaping how we manage credit risk, support our dealer network and deliver sustainable growth across our Dealer Funding portfolio.

This is an opportunity to lead from the front - combining your credit risk expertise with your ability to inspire and influence others. You’ll manage our first line Credit Risk team overseeing dealer funding reviews, in-life portfolio management and supporting the origination of new facilities. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the Dealer Funding credit risk profile remains robust, resilient and aligned with business strategy.

What will your day look like

  • You’ll lead and develop a small team of Portfolio Analysts, setting clear expectations, coaching for excellence and building an engaged, high-performing team.
  • Manage credit risk through annual dealer reviews, monitoring and assessing new and renewal applications to ensure they align with risk appetite and business goals.
  • Produce and interpret MI and detailed reports to inform decisions on dealer stability, stocking utilisation and portfolio performance.
  • Act as product SME using your market knowledge and insight to influence product development and strategy.
  • Collaborate strategically with Sales, Distribution and 2LOD Risk to identify opportunities and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Strengthen governance and controls, embedding key RCSA actions, ensuring full compliance with Group Risk frameworks, Consumer Duty and all relevant legislation.
  • Represent Dealer Funding at internal governance forums and senior stakeholder meetings.

What do we expect from you

We’re seeking someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership capability. The profile we’re looking for includes:

  • Strong understanding of the Motor Dealer Funding sector, ideally with exposure to wholesale credit risk, recoveries or uplifts.
  • Experience of managing or holding a senior credit sanctioning mandate.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influential communicator.
  • Commercial acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing operational controls and governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Data Protection Act and Consumer Credit Act.

What can you expect from us

  • A hybrid working policy, 3 days per week onsite in our central Cardiff office.
  • A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
  • A growing organisation with opportunities to progress.
  • A drive for continuous improvement which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
  • Competitive remuneration with a strong benefits package including: annual bonus, 10% employer pension contribution, private medical with BUPA, and 30 days holiday.
