Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK is seeking a Consultant Programme and Project Planner to join our Secure Government Delivery Optimisation Practice. You will lead planning activities, build credible schedules and work with clients, suppliers and delivery teams to maximise benefits from transformation.

You will mentor colleagues, apply governance disciplines, coordinate across waterfall, Agile and hybrid delivery, and provide trusted advice on planning quality and decision support.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable specialist knowledge and hands-on experience of planning and scheduling in complex portfolio, programme or project environments.
• Planning should be a core specialism within your career.
• Experience with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project; Jira experience is beneficial.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision; produce high-quality outputs.
• Strong consultancy and relationship-management skills.
• Experience mentoring or coaching others.
• Commercial awareness and involvement in bids or case studies is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning activities and resolve complex scheduling issues with robust logic.
• Publish clear, high-quality outputs that shape client understanding and decision-making.
• Facilitate workshops with schedule owners and delivery teams to build and assure credible schedules.
• Assess integration, dependencies, critical paths and alignment with governance at programme level.
• Connect milestones to strategic objectives at portfolio level.
• Mentor and coach colleagues to strengthen capability across teams.
• Provide trusted specialist advice on planning, scheduling, controls and governance best practice.
• Lead the creation, baselining, maintenance and assurance of integrated schedules.
• Coordinate schedule updates, forecast delivery outcomes and provide recommendations.
• Integrate planning across waterfall, Agile and hybrid environments with end-to-end visibility.
