Job summary

A community hospital in the UK is seeking a Porter/Driver to provide a customer-focused shuttle bus service at Savernake Community Hospital while undertaking general porter duties. Ideal candidates must possess a full valid driving license, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively both in teams and independently. Responsibilities include transporting staff, managing supplies, and maintaining cleanliness within hospital premises. This role offers part-time hours, specifically from 14:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the site shuttlebus service for staff between the hospital site and the off site parking facility.
  • Move equipment, waste, linen and supplies around the hospital site in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure compounds, external areas and storage facilities are kept clean and safe.
  • React to the service Porter Request system.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Team in a variety of tasks when required.
  • Remove clinical, household and special waste from all areas within the hospital.
  • Deliver and collect items to departments across the site.

Job description

Job Summary We are currently looking to recruit a Porter/Driver working at Savernake Community Hospital. As part of the Housekeeping team you will be required to provide a customer focused driver service for the site shuttle bus service and to undertake general Porter duties within the hospital. We are looking for people with a full valid driving licence, an enthusiastic approach to customer service and good team work skills.

Working hours 14:00-18:00 Monday to Friday.

Main duties
  • Drive the site shuttlebus service for staff between the hospital site and the off site parking facility.
  • Move equipment, waste, linen and supplies around the hospital site in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure compounds, external areas and storage facilities are kept clean and safe.
  • React to the service Porter Request system.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Team in a variety of tasks when required.
Job responsibilities
  • Remove clinical, household and special waste from all areas within the hospital, segregating and placing in the appropriate wheelie bins. Maintaining household wheelie bins in a clean condition.
  • Remove soiled linen from designated areas to holding areas ready for collection.
  • Delivery and collect items to departments across the site, e.g. Post, food trolleys.
  • Receive and deliver CSSD and drug boxes throughout site.
  • Sustain adequate stocks of medical gases and receive deliveries ensuring all appropriate records are maintained.

Qualifications
Essential
  • General educational standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Full Valid Driving Licence
Desirable
  • Basic Food Hygiene qualification
  • Basic Health and Safety qualification
  • Working Knowledge of COSHH
Experience
Essential
  • Sufficient life experience for required degree of maturity
Desirable
  • Previous driving work
  • Previous cleaning experience
  • Previous NHS, public sector or service industry working
