Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Porter for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. The role covers patient and visitor transfers between wards, A&E, X-ray and other areas at Evesham Community Hospital and Worcester sites. Driving licence is required and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, physical environment.

Shifts include early, late, and weekend patterns. Pay is £12.92 per hour with enhanced rates on weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have full driving licence.
• A good understanding of spoken and written English.
• Trained in Manual Handling.

Responsibilities

• Provide a portering and messenger service, including the transfer of patients and visitors between wards and departments including A&E admissions to wards and transfers between A&E, X-ray and wards.
• Collect and deliver a range of goods including, drugs, bloods, furniture, feed bottles, case notes, specimens, x-rays and medical gas cylinders.
• Responsible for the regular and sufficient removal of general, recycling and clinical waste.
• Ensure all waste streams are segregated, handled, and disposed of in line with the site requirements.
• Comply with the health and safety procedures when moving waste around the site.
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.

Shift Patterns: Monday - Sunday, 6.am -2pm, 2pm -10pm, and 7am-4pm (Driving role - 08am-12.30pm and 1pm-5.30pm)

Pay: £12.92 per hour plus enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays

About the Trust

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is the main provider of mental health and learning disability services in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and also provide community nursing and therapy services in Worcestershire. They provide services for people of all ages, across a range of settings, experiencing both physical and/or mental health conditions across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. They are the main providers of mental health and learning disability services in both counties, and also deliver community hospitals, neighbourhood teams and community nursing services across Worcestershire. They have over 40 locations within Hospitals and clinic environments.
