Job description
Primary Function

Performs the duties of a Sleep Lab Technician, scores sleep record of patient and prepares for physician interpretation.

Responsibilities
  • Performs duties of a Sleep Lab Technician and evaluates PSG and MSLT recordings. Generates computerized PSG report.
  • Interprets raw data: scores polysomnogram for sleep stages using standardized criteria, computes parameters to include sleep latency, sleep efficiency and percentage of sleep stages, analyzes apneas and arousals (muscle and spontaneous).
  • Determines heart rate ranges for waking and sleeping stages. Identifies and quantifies abnormalities in cardiac activity and respiration. Identifies normal/abnormal patterns, artifacts and sleep/wake stages.
  • Assists with marketing the sleep lab to the outside community and staff physicians.
  • Provides information to the medical staff regarding test capabilities and requirements to increase medical staff knowledge of polysomnographic testing. Provides in-service education to sleep lab staff.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specification

Vocational/technical training and a minimum of one year’s job-related experience or equivalent is required. Registered Polysomnography technologist certification is also required.

Physical Environment

The job is also typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday.
