As a Poling Field Manager

You will provide hands‑on coaching, guidance, and technical support to poling engineers and operatives in the field, ensuring best practices, safety, and quality standards are consistently met. Ensure new recruits are competent in all poling related activities after training.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, Support and develop the team.
  • Raising and following up on non‑conformance reports, to ensure that any actions identified, pursued, and resolved.
  • Join/take daily conference calls.
  • Manage defects and compliance.
  • Oversee daily completion rates.
  • Developing strong working relationships with the Poling team and other stakeholders.
  • Work as part of a larger team to develop working practices and procedures.
  • Overall supervision of several sub‑contracting site crews carrying out poling and cabling works on Telecommunication networks.
  • Compliance with road works signing, lighting, and guarding.
  • Responsible for all site works, methodology and network build approach.
  • Complete stock checks when required.
  • Responsible for site inspections at the start and the end of the day.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, quality failures and service deterioration trends.
  • Supervision of day‑to‑day project delivery within geographical area, including delivery to client requirements, safety, quality, street works, supplier performance and improvement.
  • Dealing with sickness as and when required.
PERSON SPECIFICAITON
  • Experience in Poling.
  • Hold or have held Openreach overhead and cabling accreditation modules, including K8, N27, N28, A8, O02, O03, O04, O05, O07, O01, O06, A12, A14.
  • Confident with working at heights.
  • Streetworks units 1 to 6 & 9.
  • IPAF 1B.
  • NPORS Lorry Loader.
  • Openreach/Smart Awards OH and UG accreditations.
  • Hold full NRSWA Street‑works qualifications at operative level.
  • HIAB experience.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • Department – Rural South Wales
  • Reports To – Head of Poling
  • Hours of Work – 8:00 – 16:30
  • Salary – £40,000 – £50,000
Holiday Entitlements
  • 6.6 week per annum, inclusive of bank holidays and company shutdowns.
