Job summary

Weightmans is recruiting for a Solicitor or Senior Solicitor/Legal Executive to join the Casualty Police claims team in Liverpool, Manchester, Leicester, Newcastle or Leeds. You will handle police-defence civil actions and Data Protection Act matters, with a view to developing client relationships and mentoring junior colleagues.

You will manage both pre-litigated and litigious files, conduct advocacy where needed, and ensure adherence to CPR, policies and service standards while travelling as

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor or legal executive with 0–3 or 3+ PQE.
• Experience with Data Protection Act claims preferred.
• Experience defending civil claims preferred, claimant experience considered.
• Ability to undertake advocacy as required and meet CPR expectations.
• Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act for police forces, claims handlers and insurers in civil actions against the police.
• Manage pre-litigated and litigated claims including Data Protection Act matters.
• Assist Team Manager with client development, training and networking.
• Support and mentor junior team members and liaise with solicitors, insurers and clients.
• Attend court hearings and perform advocacy when appropriate; meet client care standards.
