West London NHS Trust is seeking a motivated podiatrist to deliver high-quality podiatric care for patients at risk of serious foot health issues, with a strong emphasis on diabetes foot protection. The role may start at Band 5 in a developmental capacity with a preceptorship.
You will contribute to mentoring less experienced podiatrists, apprentices and students and join a MDT diabetic foot clinic as well as MSK clinics and nail surgery rotations.
We are looking for a highly motivated podiatrist, who is passionate about their profession and enjoys making a difference to people’s lives.
You should have at least two years' NHS experience and be confident in all aspects of podiatry care. However, we would consider starting a less experienced candidate at Band 5 into a developmental role, supported by a preceptorship programme.
You will be expected to contribute to the development of less experienced podiatrists, apprentices and students via clinical supervision and feedback.
You will provide high-quality podiatric care, for people at risk of developing serious foot health complications. There is emphasis on diabetes foot protection as the population we serve has a very high incidence of diabetes. Our remit is to prevent unplanned foot-related hospital admissions and avoid amputations.
You will have the opportunity to join our nail surgery rota, to gain experience in MSK podiatry clinics, which include ultrasound diagnostics, steroid injections and ESWT and in working in a secondary care diabetic foot clinic MDT.
You will benefit from our close working relationships with other community health teams, including our GP colleagues. You will also enjoy a direct pathway into the Diabetic Foot Clinic and Podiatric Surgery team at West Middlesex University Hospital.
You will play an important role in enabling people to stay healthy and active and in preventing them from spending unnecessary time in hospital.
In our vibrant and multi-cultural community, you will work from well-equipped clinic sites delivering care close to home. You will assess, diagnose, and provide high-quality podiatric care to people with complex foot health needs and lower limbs that are at risk. There is emphasis on diabetes foot protection due to the high incidence of diabetes in the population we serve.
You will be responsible for agreeing care plans with patients that support self-management and optimise foot health, in line with service priorities
You will be required to visit housebound patients in their own homes, so ideally you must be able to drive and have access to a car to support their needs.
You will work autonomously and alongside others, so you need to be flexible and well organised and great at teamworking and problem solving.
You will also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with our diverse patient population and with various other health care teams and stakeholders.
For more information on this role please see the attached candidate pack. This will give you a better overview of the job role and requirements.
