Job summary

Sonic Healthcare UK is advertising an Associate Practitioner in Point of Care Testing (POCT) at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. The role supports high-quality diagnostic services and ensures POCT devices are used to UKAS standards across hospital and community sites.

We seek an Honours Degree holder with MLA/POCT experience, strong IT skills and a patient-safety focus. The post is 37.5 hours/week, with weekday hours and occasional weekend/Bank Holidays as service needs dictate.

Qualifications

• Honours Degree in a science subject or equivalent.
• Experience as MLA in a pathology laboratory or POCT team.
• Strong IT skills and proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to quality, patient safety and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Experience with laboratory information systems.
• Knowledge of LEAN principles.
• Experience using POCT devices such as glucose meters and urine dipstick analysers.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and troubleshooting POCT equipment across sites.
• Supporting device validation, upgrades and implementation projects.
• Delivering training and competency assessments for clinical users.
• Supporting IQC and EQA programmes.
• Assisting with audits, quality management and service improvement.
• Providing advice to clinical teams and handling POCT enquiries.
• Managing stock, supplies and documentation for POCT service.
