Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Associate Practitioner to work in Point of Care Testing within the clinical biochemistry and haematology services. The role involves performing routine analyses under supervision, maintaining POCT equipment and supporting training for staff.

You will liaise with doctors, nurses, Biomedical Scientists and engineers, ensure governance and contribute toward achieving UKAS accreditation as part of the team.

Qualifications

• Experience with Point of Care Testing (POCT) and biochemistry/haematology analyses.
• Ability to train staff and assess competency under supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clinicians and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialist POCT analyses under supervision from Biomedical Scientists.
• Conduct competency assessments of POCT staff and support training initiatives.
• Maintain POCT devices, perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with engineers.
• Enter patient demographics and results into the laboratory IT systems.
