Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a fixed-term Band 3 Biomedical Science Assistant - Higher Level for 6 months in the Laboratory Medicine - POCT team at The Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Hospitals, South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology Partnership.

The role involves 37.5 core hours (09:00–17:30) with potential spread to 08:00–20:00, Monday to Sunday across sites. End date 31 March 2027; NHS benefits and professional development are offered.

Responsibilities

• Support the POCT team in running flu point of care testing devices during the flu season, ensuring patient care is supported and testing standards are upheld.
• Assist with quality governance, staff training on POCT devices, information management and consumables management under supervision.
• Collaborate with the POCT Coordinators and wider Sheffield Teaching Hospitals teams to maintain high-quality laboratory practice.
