Lead the portfolio that shapes our organisation’s future

Are you an experienced PMO leader who can bring structure, insight, and consistency to a large and diverse change portfolio? Do you excel at building governance frameworks, driving performance, and enabling successful delivery across complex programmes? If so, this could be the role for you.

As our PMO Lead, you’ll play a central role in strengthening how we plan, govern, and deliver change across A2 Dominion. You’ll lead our PMO function, embed a new portfolio management framework, and ensure robust, transparent oversight of all projects. Your work will be critical in ensuring we deliver the right initiatives, at the right time, in the right way – supporting better outcomes for our residents, colleagues, and communities.

About us

At A2 Dominion, we’re more than a housing provider. We’re a not-for-profit organisation with a clear social purpose: to create homes and communities people love to live in. With over 38,000 homes across London and the SouthEast, we reinvest our profits into building more affordable homes and delivering services that make a real difference. We’re also a proud member of the G15, helping lead the sector and tackle the housing crisis.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the PMO function, embedding a new portfolio management framework and establishing consistent ways of working across the organisation’s entire change portfolio.
  • Oversee portfolio governance, ensuring compliance with standards, robust controls, and high-quality reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain the integrated portfolio plan, consolidating data from subsidiary project plans and producing accurate reporting products.
  • Oversee portfolio prioritisation, tracking progress, escalating risks and issues, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Manage portfolio resource planning and allocation, working closely with business teams and development teams to optimise the operating model.
  • Maintain PMO tools, templates, documentation, and guidance, ensuring project teams meet PMO standards and use required processes.
  • Provide advice, coaching, and assurance to Project Managers, sponsors and project teams, supporting consistent delivery.
  • Manage the full change control process, progressing change requests through governance and maintaining the change register.
  • Ensure high-quality data across the PMO by maintaining data lineage, glossaries and dictionaries; enforcing data entry standards; monitoring quality metrics; and resolving data issues.
  • Work with the Data Governance Team to implement validation rules and meet governance expectations.
More About You

You’ll bring strong leadership, governance expertise and proven PMO experience, along with the ability to influence, engage and drive performance across a complex organisation.

  • Proven experience managing and operating a PMO function.
  • Experience in the social housing or local authority sector in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
  • Deep understanding of portfolio, programme and project management practices.
  • Experience implementing and managing governance frameworks.
  • Leadership and coaching experience within PMO or project environments.
  • Experience in people, process and technology change projects.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard project methodologies.
  • Degree in a relevant subject (desirable, not essential).
  • Prince2 Practitioner qualification (desirable).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and contract management systems.
  • Hands‑on leadership style with ability to motivate and develop teams.
