Job description

About Scrumconnect Consulting

Scrumconnect Consulting is a multi-award-winning digital consultancy, recognised for delivering impactful and innovative technology solutions across UK government departments. Our work has positively influenced the lives of over 40 million UK citizens.

We are passionate about user-centred design, agile delivery, and building digital services that make a real difference. Our teams work at the forefront of innovation, helping organisations transform and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that truly matter.

Overview

We're looking for a PMO Lead to join us, working across our UK government clients to put planning, reporting and delivery tooling in place that teams actually use.

You’ll work closely with clients to define how work is planned and reported across a portfolio of delivery teams: choosing and configuring the tools, designing the ways of working that sit around them, and coaching delivery people to follow a consistent approach. This is a hands‑on role for someone who puts something workable in place, monitors how well it performs, and improves it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own planning and reporting standards across a portfolio of delivery teams, from how work is broken down and estimated to how progress is reported to senior stakeholders.

  • Set up and configure delivery tooling, including Microsoft Planner, so it fits how teams actually work rather than bending teams around the tool.

  • Define and support the development of Power BI reporting that gives delivery leads, senior stakeholders and clients one trustworthy view of progress, risks, dependencies and resources.

  • Assess whether existing tools and processes are fit for purpose, and make the case to keep, change or retire them.

  • Design repeatable ways of working, document them so they can be adopted without you being present, and refine them based on where teams get stuck.

  • Mentor and coach delivery managers, project managers and PMO colleagues so a consistent approach is adopted without needing to be policed.

  • Run the planning rhythm across the portfolio, including planning sessions, milestone tracking, dependency management and the associated reporting cycle.

  • Keep the underlying data trustworthy by addressing gaps and inconsistencies that could make reports misleading.

  • Work with programme and portfolio leadership to ensure team-level plans roll up into a coherent picture, and that the information leadership requires can realistically be captured at team level.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience setting up and running PMO planning and reporting across multiple delivery teams.

  • Hands‑on experience configuring work management tools for real delivery teams, including Microsoft Planner or equivalent tools.

  • Strong Power BI skills, including defining and developing reports and dashboards using complex or inconsistent delivery data.

  • Experience assessing whether tools and processes are fit for purpose, and leading the resulting changes.

  • Experience designing repeatable ways of working and documenting them clearly enough for others to follow.

  • Experience mentoring or coaching delivery staff to adopt a consistent approach, rather than relying on process enforcement.

  • A programme or project management background, with an understanding of how task-level detail rolls up into a programme view and what leadership needs from it.

  • Comfort with an iterative approach: putting something workable in place quickly and then improving it, rather than waiting to design the perfect process.

  • Ability to explain a plan or report to any audience, from a delivery team to a senior stakeholder.

Desirable
  • Public sector or central government programme experience.

  • Experience with the wider Microsoft stack, such as Power Automate, SharePoint, Power Apps or Azure DevOps.

  • Experience building and maintaining Power BI reports.

  • Data modelling or DAX skills beyond standard Power BI reporting.

  • Experience with portfolio-level resource and capacity planning.

  • Familiarity with recognised delivery frameworks such as Agile, MSP or PRINCE2.
