Overview

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is a central government department committed to protecting the country’s security and independence. Job Purpose

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to lead and manage the Commercial & Industry Transformation Office (PMO), ensuring robust governance, planning, reporting, and control mechanisms are in place to support successful delivery of strategic transformation objectives. The Programme Management Office (PMO) will act as the central coordination point for programme oversight, enabling informed decision‑making and ensuring alignment with defence standards, policies, and operational imperatives.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Commercial & Industry Transformations programmes are delivered effectively on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Governance and oversight: programme planning and control, financial management, risk and issue management, reporting and analytics, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, and communication management.
  • Guide stakeholders through decision‑making points toward consensus, achieving the programme of work while avoiding or resolving conflicts.
  • Run the core briefs and organise and facilitate workshops associated with the Tx programme.
  • Work closely with communication channel owners and outreach teams and act as the programme’s main link with Defence Design.
  • Demonstrate strong communicative abilities and be comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders while maintaining strong organisational skills.
Essential Qualifications
  • Proven experience in PMO leadership within complex, multi‑stakeholder programmes, ideally in defence or government.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain operations and transformation principles.
  • Expertise in programme planning, risk management, and performance reporting.
  • Familiarity with MOD governance frameworks (e.g., JSP 655, P3M, Defence Operating Model).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and data visualisation platforms.
Desirable Qualifications
  • APM PMQ, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent programme/project management certification.
  • Experience with Defence Digital, DE&S, or Defence Commercial frameworks.
Additional Requirements

SC Clearance is an essential requirement. Candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security checks. Preference may be given to candidates who hold active security clearance. This role can only be worked within the UK and not overseas.
