Primary School PMLD Teaching Assistant

Location: Swansea (Travel distances of up to 30 minutes)
Contract: Full time and Part time roles available
Salary: 89.38 per day, £13.75ph
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be recruiting a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in a warm and inclusive primary school.

If you have a caring nature and a passion for supporting children with complex needs, this rewarding role could be perfect for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised support to pupils with PMLD
  • Assist with tailored learning activities and sensory-based experiences
  • Support pupils with physical care needs, including mobility, feeding, and personal care
  • Build trusting, positive relationships to help pupils feel safe and confident by recognising their preferences and communicating with them
  • Provide support to pupils with speech & language needs, or emotional/behavioural challenges
  • Help maintain a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
We’re Looking For Someone Who…
  • Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children with complex needs
  • Has experience working with pupils with PMLD or severe/complex needs (Experience in PMLD, SLD, or complex care settings)
  • Is adaptable, intuitive, and calm under pressure
  • Communicates clearly with staff, pupils, and professionals
  • Enjoys working as part of a strong, supportive team
  • Has previous training in manual handling, hoisting, or medical needs
  • Has knowledge of sensory processing, communication aids, or AAC
