We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join our client's supportive team, working with students who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). If you are committed to creating meaningful, sensory-rich learning experiences and celebrating every pupil's progress, we want to hear from you.

A PMLD teacher works with students who have multiple disabilities, the most significant being a profound learning disability, often accompanied by physical, sensory, or complex health needs.

The role involves:

Individualised Planning: Developing and implementing Individualised Curriculum's and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) that meet complex needs.

Sensory and Communication Focus: Creating highly engaging, sensory-rich environments and utilising Total Communication approaches to promote communication and physical development.

Specialist Support: Providing assistance with daily life activities (e.g., eating, personal care, washing) in a dignified and supportive manner.

Collaborative Practice: Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, leaders, support staff, parents, and external professionals.

Meaningful Assessment: Using specialist systems like MAPP and the Engagement Model to accurately measure and record pupil progress.

Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential
  • Experience teaching students with PMLD, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), or complex special educational needs (SEN)
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills and a calm, positive approach to managing challenging situations
  • Expertise or training in areas such as sensory integration, positive behaviour support, moving and handling, and various communication methods
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is ESSENTIAL (sponsorship is not available with this role)
  • DBS on an update service is a must
  • 2 recent relevant preference
