Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment seeks a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties in Romford and Waltham Forest. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping with communication, sensory development, and personalised learning activities.

Experience in specialist SEN settings is ideal. A valid DBS is essential, and a compassionate, patient approach is required to thrive in multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with PMLD or complex SEN.
  • Valid Child and Adult DBS essential.
  • Experience in specialist schools or SEN provisions.
  • Ability to follow EHCPs, care plans and health protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Support communication, sensory development, cognition and independence.
  • Deliver sensory, play-based and personalised learning activities.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding and mobility where required.
  • Follow EHCPs, learning plans, care plans and health protocols.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist professionals.
  • Monitor pupil engagement, development and progress.
  • Help create a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment.
