Job summary

A local independent living organization is looking for Personal Assistants to support a man in his late 50s with complex health needs in Ystrad, Wales. You will assist with daily living tasks, ensuring safety and wellbeing. Two positions are available, part-time (16 hours/week) and full-time (37 hours/week). Experience in a caring role is beneficial but not essential. Competitive pay rates apply.

Job description
Overview

Personal Assistant position available to support a man in his late 50s with complex health needs. The PA will work as part of a small team in the client’s home, assisting with daily living needs and ensuring safety and wellbeing.

Place of Work

At the client’s home in Ystrad.

Hours of Work
  • 2 positions available:
  • 16 hours per week part-time
  • 37 hours per week full-time
  • You must be willing to cover sickness and annual leave, which could include day hours, weekends and overnights.
Rate of Pay
  • £12.50 per hour Weekdays
  • £14.50 per hour Weekend
  • Raising after 6 months.
Tasks Involved
  • Ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Reassuring the client when anxious
  • General meal preparation and providing drinks as needed; assisting with chewing and swallowing to reduce choking risk
  • Assisting with bathing, toileting and personal hygiene
  • Monitoring general health (e.g., chest infections, eye care, mouth care, skin markings, pressure sores)
  • Assisting with daily medication
  • General housework (cleaning, laundry, mopping floors, wiping surfaces, vacuuming, tidying)

About the Job

Although part-time, this is a proper job requiring a National Insurance number. A trial period will apply. Wages are paid every 4 weeks on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). DBS check may be required at no expense to you.
