JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a 63 year old man living in Talbot Green. In 2018 I had a stroke which has resulted in left sided weakness. My mobility is very limited but I am still determined to maintain my independence. I do however use a walking stick in the home and a wheelchair when out.

Before my stroke I led a very healthy, active and fit lifestyle and I am determined this won’t change.

PLACE OF WORK

Your job will be in and around the local community as well as in my home.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

You will support me to retain my independence and manage day‑to‑day tasks.

HOURS OF WORK

4 hours per week. Additional hours on occasion to cover annual leave. Flexibility is required for changing days/times/shifts.

RATE OF PAY

£13.50 per hour

£40p mileage allowance

TASKS INVOLVED
  • Weekly shopping
  • Out for a meal to a local restaurant or to the cinema – occasionally
  • All aspects of personal care involved which includes assisting to shower, apply medicated creams, get dressed and maintain overall appearance
  • Preparing meals, making drinks
  • General/light housework, for example wiping down surfaces after meal prep
  • Emotional support to boost my mood and manage situations which can sometimes be overwhelming
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
  • An enthusiastic and friendly person is important
  • Good communication skills are important
  • You must be presentable and respectable
  • Flexible with the times you work – you must be able to work extra hours on occasion
  • Very important that you are dependable and reliable
  • Someone who can confidently and easily build rapport with me
  • A driver who has access to a car
  • Sense of humour is a must
ABOUT THE JOB

This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.

All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.

Although this is a part‑time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.

Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
