Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 42 year old woman living in Mountain Ash with my parents. I have learning difficulties which makes my behaviour very challenging. On the outside I can appear very calm and collected, but if something upsets me I can become very angry and difficult. I can also be manipulating and anyone working with me needs to know this and how to manage it. I always need to be motivated to do things, including being reminded to use the toilet. I enjoy listening all types of music and playing on my IPad. I enjoy going to the Cinema and also shopping and maybe stopping for a coffee and a chat.

PURPOSE OF JOB

Mainly your job will be community based and taking me out to various activities in the local community.

HOURS OF WORK

Total of 18 hours per week.

  • 6 hours on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10am till 4pm
  • You may be required to cover additional shifts on occasion.
RATE OF PAY

£13.00 per hour plus mileage when using own vehicle.

TASKS INVOLVED
  • Taking me swimming
  • Supporting me access and engage in other activities
  • Encouraging me to participate in exercise, possibly joining in
  • Supporting me to use the bathroom when we are out
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
  • A person who is sensitive and considerate
  • A person who is dependable and arrives on time.
  • A person with a friendly manner
  • Someone who is adaptable and flexible would be an advantage
  • A general understanding – or a willingness to learn about learning disability
  • Remaining calm and sensible when my behaviour becomes difficult
  • And being able to manage it
  • A car driver and owner is essential.
ABOUT THE JOB

This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.

All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.

Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.

Wages will be paid on a two-weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
