Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative

Salary: £37,425 per annum

About the Role

Be part of one of the region's largest housing associations committed to supplying secure, comfortable, and well-maintained residences for our tenants in the Wokingham area. We are currently searching for an accomplished and proactive Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative to join our dedicated in-house maintenance department.

This position is crucial to our commitment to delivering first-rate service, primarily concentrating on responsive repairs across our diverse portfolio of properties in and around Wokingham.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsive Maintenance: Execute scheduled and urgent plumbing and fundamental multi-trade upkeep and repairs within occupied tenant dwellings in the Wokingham area.
  • Fault Detection: Quickly and accurately determine, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide range of plumbing issues, including pipe leaks, drain obstructions, and fixture maintenance.
  • Secondary Tasks: Perform basic secondary trade skills (e.g., small area plaster patching, wall tiling, joinery) required to finish repair jobs effectively.
  • Compliance: Ensure all workmanship is carried out to a high specification, strictly adhering to all current Health & Safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Client Relations: Serve as a professional representative of the housing association, offering polite and clear communication with residents concerning their maintenance needs and queries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, team members, and the scheduling unit to guarantee efficient and seamless service provision.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualification: NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing (or an equivalent recognised trade qualification/relevant practical experience).
  • Experience: Proven background in plumbing upkeep and repairs, preferably within a social housing, local authority, or asset management environment.
  • Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities, paired with proficiency in undertaking basic multi-trade repairs.
  • Autonomy: Demonstrated capability to organise your own workload effectively and finish assignments to a high standard with minimal direction.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and interpersonal skills for clear communication with tenants and colleagues.
  • Licence: Must possess a current, full UK driving licence.
