Overview

Job Role : Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance Plumber)

Location : HMP Feltham (TW13)

Salary : £41,818.21 per annum + 5% for shift work covering weekends

Contract : Permanent, 39 hours per week, Monday to Sunday

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Feltham, a category C prison and a Young Offender Institution holding young people from 15 and men up to the age of 30 years old.

HMP Feltham operates as a self-contained facility; the Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to driving smooth and safe operation, with all activities impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Responsibilities

Contribute to a safe and secure environment by maintaining and improving mechanical and plumbing systems within the prison facility, in line with regulatory and safety requirements. Collaborate with trades teams to support operational needs and ensure reliable service delivery.

Qualifications
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
  • Familiar with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
