Job summary

Guernsey Electricity Limited is seeking a Plumber to carry out plumbing installations, repairs and maintenance with a focus on high standards and customer service. The role sits in the Energy Solutions department in Guernsey and reports to the Team Manager.

The successful candidate will install, maintain and test plumbing systems, including heating and cooling, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute toak the company’s service offerings while mentoring apprentices.

Qualifications

• Formal apprenticeship or equivalent completed.
• C&G Level 3 Plumbing Studies or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of current Building Regulations related to plumbing.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test and repair plumbing systems in industrial, commercial and domestic premises.
• Maintain and repair heating and cooling systems.
• Test new and existing installations and produce test certifications.

Description

The Plumber will carry out plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance works. They will ensure these works are carried out to a high standard, in an efficient commercial and customer focused manner.

The GEL Electrical & Plumbing section is a commercial offering operating in a competitive marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

• The installation, maintenance, test and repair of plumbing systems in industrial, commercial and domestic premises.
• The installation, maintenance and repair of heating and cooling systems.
• To test new and existing installations and produce test certification.
• BPEC Qualified for un-vented cylinders.
• To plan works and carry out in an efficient manner.
• To promote the company and all its service offerings and provide customer with advice on the systems installed and how to operate in an efficient way.
• To ensure the standard of workmanship meets statutory requirements.
• To assist in the supervision and effective training of apprentices.
• To ensure concise & accurate job notes and time allocation is correctly recorded on the field working system.
• Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
• Such other duties as may be allocated and interchange of duties as required.

• Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent
• Qualified to a minimum of C&G level 3 in Plumbing Studies or equivalent
• A sound working knowledge of current Building Regulations in relation to plumbing
• Hold a current category "B" driving licence
