About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Plumber / Mechanical Engineer (Level 2) to join our team at HMP Parkhurst, a category B adult male prison. Join a team that works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, creating a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Parkhurst runs like a self‑contained city where the Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to driving smooth and safe operation. As a Plumber / Mechanical Engineer (Level 2) you will work alongside experienced colleagues across various trades to maintain a safe and secure environment for prisoners, employees and visitors.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 certificate in a mechanical or plumbing discipline or equivalent
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

About GFSL

GFSL is a five‑year‑old Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS. The firm will transfer services to the private sector by August 2027 after a procurement process. GFSL is ISO 9001 certified and promotes diversity and inclusion with ongoing learning and training.

Future Plans

GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM services will be delivered by the private sector in the future. Services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
