We are currently seeking to fill the position of Plumber.

Plumber

Part-Time (22.5 hours per week, 3 days a week)

Loretto School is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools located on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Plumber.

The right candidate will enjoy working in an exciting but challenging environment and form an integral part of the School community.

Main Purpose of the Role

Working as part of the Estates Team, you will ensure the School’s plumbing systems are maintained and repaired, across the entire site. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of water supply, drainage, heating, and sanitation facilities. On occasions, you may be asked to help the other tradespeople in the team.

You should be able to handle a wide range of duties and responsibilities when installing and maintaining plumbing, some of these include:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing pipe including joins, valves, drains and fixtures in all types of structures;
  • Coordinating with a general contractor and other building professionals on site;
  • Following current rules and regulations related to plumbing to ensure that systems pass inspection first time;
  • Responding to plumbing emergencies, determining the issue and making a repair;
  • Performing regular maintenance of plumbing systems to prevent emergencies.

Experience & Skills
  • SVQ level 3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent is essential
  • 2 years’ work experience after time served in apprenticeship
  • Proven experience of working in a team
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude

This is a part-time, permanent position working 22.5 hours per week across 52 weeks of the year. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The successful applicant will work three fixed days per week, which can be agreed upon within reason at the start of employment.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and aptitude for the role and in the region of £22,000.
