Job summary

Stateside Foods is seeking a permanent PLC Engineer to design and maintain control systems at our Manchester site. The engineer will write and update software, design panels, and train shift engineers, ensuring safe, compliant operation and timely problem-solving across electrical and software systems.

The role requires electrical engineering qualifications, with Siemens qualifications advantageous; responsibilities include project work, documentation, and liaising with OEMs, all aligned to H&S

Job description

We have a permanent opportiunity for a PLC Engineer.

The role will be working Monday to Friday 06.00 - 15.00. Reporting to the Site Engineering manager the PLC Engineer will be responsible for writing, maintaining and updating all software on site and troubleshooting and fault finding of software and electrical systems.

The role responsibilities but not limited too:

• Design of control panels and lead installations.
• Produce and maintain electrical drawings as required
• Write, update and modify software.
• Train and develop shift engineers and apprentices.
• When required - carryout support in electrical breakdowns during day-to-day activities.
• Design and install electrical control improvements (projects).
• Liaise with original equipment manufacturer regarding plant issues and future upgrades.
• Responsible for maintaining and backing up software
• Preparing documentation and instructions for engineers and end users
• Carryout all work in sympathy with site H&S guidance
• Carryout work in line with all current legislation
• Any other reasonable requests
• Support and train colleagues where necessary
• Adhere to the company’s H&S policies and procedures
• Adhere to the company’s Hygiene policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have effective written and verbal communication skills with knowledge of engineering best practice. Candidates should hold an electrical engineering qualification along with Siemans qualifications being advantageous.
