Overview

Express Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established software company who specialise in plant automation solutions on behalf of a global customer base. Due to an ever-growing UK client base and a recent global acquisition, our client is seeking the addition of a PLC Controls Engineer to join their talented team. The ideal candidate will be a fully trained Industrial Electrical Maintenance Engineer with significant exposure to PLC programming (ideally Siemens, Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley).

Responsibilities
  • Program PLCs from scratch using bespoke in-house software, including Allen Bradley, Siemens and Mitsubishi
  • Operate SCADA software to monitor and maintain plant automation for customers
  • Attend parent site in Crewe twice a week to shadow and learn PLC techniques and processes from the Senior PLC Programmer
  • Design, configure and commission control systems on UK and overseas customer sites
  • Compile accurate fault reports and ensure they are documented correctly
  • Create plant layout designs and interpret schematic diagrams for installation and commissioning works
  • Oversee the design of control panels, structural machine designs and material handling equipment
  • Play a crucial part in modernising the company’s approach to PLC programming while also providing support for legacy PLC programmes where needed
  • Consult directly with customers to fully understand their bespoke specifications
  • Assist with electrical design projects from initial concept to completion
  • Work to complete various projects within designated deadlines times
Skills & Experience
  • Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar field
  • Demonstrable fault-finding experience with the likes of Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi, and Siemens S7 PLCs
  • Experienced user of SCADA software
  • Experience working with control panels, material handling equipment and automated plant machinery
  • Previous coding experience of C/C++ a big plus
  • Previous experience working with SQL databases desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communicative skills, both written and verbally
  • Fully flexible with regular field work and occasional overseas travel/weekend work when needed
  • Full UK Driving License essential
