Job summary

Clubland Playscheme Ltd is seeking a Playworker for Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School in Surbiton to join our afterschool club for children aged 3–7. This hands-on role involves supporting child-led play, crafts, and outdoor games after school hours.

You'll help with snacks, set up play areas, and ensure wellbeing by following safeguarding and first aid procedures. Training is provided, and the position offers term-time hours with some holiday hours possible.

Qualifications

• Desirable childcare/playwork qualifications and safeguarding-related training are preferred but training will be provided.
• First Aid and Safeguarding training included and paid for.

Responsibilities

• Support child-led play, crafts, cookery, outdoor games and activities.
• Prepare snacks, set up play areas, tidy away.
• Follow safeguarding, first aid and health & safety procedures to keep children safe.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and school staff.
• Work as a team to make each session enjoyable and stress-free.

Playworker – Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School, Surbiton

Help make afterschool the best part of a child's day.

Do you enjoy working with children and bringing energy to their day? We’re looking for Playworkers to join our friendly team at Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School in Surbiton, running our afterschool club for children aged 3–7.

This is a hands-on role where every session is different – one moment you’ll be helping with snacks or setting up a craft table, the next you’ll be outdoors leading games or joining in imaginative play.

At Clubland, we’re a small, family-run business passionate about creating safe, fun, and nurturing experiences. Our Playworkers are at the heart of this – making sure every child feels welcome, happy, and inspired.

The Role

As a Playworker, You’ll

• Support the fun – get involved with child-led play, crafts, cookery, outdoor games, and activities.
• Keep things running smoothly – prepare snacks, set up play areas, tidy away.
• Look after wellbeing – follow safeguarding, first aid, and health & safety procedures to keep children safe.
• Be a friendly face – build positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff.
• Work as a team – support colleagues to make each session enjoyable and stress-free.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Caring, reliable, and friendly
• Confident engaging and playing with children (experience with ages 3–7 is ideal)
• Creative and happy to get stuck into a range of activities
• A great communicator and team player
• Able to stay calm and organised in a busy environment

Desirable extras: childcare/playwork qualifications, Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding training – but don’t worry if you don’t have these yet, we’ll provide training.

The Practical Bits

• Location: Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School, Surbiton, Surrey
• Hours: 14:30–18:00, Monday–Friday (term time only). Job share available. Opportunity for additional hours during school holidays.
• Contract: Permanent contract with variable hours
• Pay: £12.71/hr starting rate, plus 12.07% holiday pay uplift (total £14.24/hr). Pay increases with training and years of service.
• Training: First Aid and Safeguarding training included and paid for
