Job summary

Pathway Trust is seeking a Play Assistant for Cherry Garden Primary School in Bristol. The role runs after school, Monday to Thursday, 3pm–6pm, on a fixed term contract until 31 August 2027. You will help deliver a range of safe, engaging play activities for children aged 4–11 and support safeguarding standards.

You should be self-motivated with good communication, able to engage positively with children, and assist with meal prep for snacks. A flexible, caring approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with good communication skills.
• Ability to engage with children aged 4–11.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child safety.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe activities with groups of children from all class ranges
• Engage with children encouraging them to participate in activities to promote learning and social development
• Support children on a 1:1 basis who have complex needs (if required)
• Encourage fair and caring behaviour among the children
• Encourage independence and self-esteem
• Ensure safety and safeguarding procedures are adhered to ensure children are kept safe
• Assist with food preparation for serving breakfast and afterschool snacks
