Job summary

Bloom & Wild Group is seeking a Platform Engineer to join Europe’s largest direct-to-consumer flower and gifting business. The role spans embedded work, central platform development, and AI integration to accelerate code shipping and reliability.

You’ll manage AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability, while building shared tooling for all developers. The team embraces hybrid/remote work across Europe and supports growth through equity, learning budgets, and discounts.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS & Terraform experience (ECS Fargate, RDS, Lambda, EventBridge).
• Experience with deployment pipelines and observability.
• Comfort with Ruby or Python codebases.
• Interest in using AI tools in daily software engineering.
• Willingness to work across embedded, platform, and AI integration work.

Responsibilities

• Internal Tooling: Create feature flags, canary rollouts, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Core Infrastructure: Manage AWS, GitHub, Datadog, and Cloudflare.
• Automation: Eliminate repetitive manual tasks for engineering teams, utilising AI tools where you can.
• Production Support: Guide squads on managing their own apps using metrics, logs, and SLOs.
• Hands-on AWS & Terraform: ECS Fargate, RDS, Lambda, EventBridge.

As a Platform Engineer, you'll help our engineering teams ship code faster, safely, and on reliable infrastructure. You'll split your time roughly between:

• Embedded Work: Joining domain squads to fix bottlenecks and improve their systems.

• Central Platform Work: Building shared tools, infrastructure, and automation for all developers.

• AI Integration: Rolling out AI tools across development, code reviews, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities

• AWS & Terraform: Hands-on experience (specifically ECS Fargate, RDS, Lambda, or EventBridge).

• CI/CD & Observability: Strong understanding of deployment pipelines and system monitoring.

• Modern Tools: Interest in using AI tools in daily software engineering.

• Codebases: Comfortable working with application code in Ruby or Python and navigating ambiguous problems.
