Job summary

Altech Group Ltd is seeking a Platform Engineer for a hybrid role in Stockport. You will design and scale a cloud-native platform used by millions, building scalable infrastructure on GCP and developing IaC with Terraform.

You’ll enhance automation, developer tooling, and platform reliability. Ideal candidate enjoys variety, works with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern tooling, and collaborates closely with software engineers to deliver reliable platform solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker in a cloud-native environment.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable cloud-native infrastructure on GCP.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Improve automation, deployment pipelines and operational efficiency.
• Build self-service platform tooling for development teams.
• Collaborate with software engineers to deliver reliable platform solutions.
• Improve platform security, monitoring and reliability.
• Participate in a paid on-call rota for platform availability.

A product-led consumer technology business is looking for a Platform Engineer to help build and scale a modern cloud platform supporting millions of users across the UK. Working in an engineering-first environment, you’ll play a key role in improving infrastructure, developer experience and platform reliability.

This is the ideal role for a Platform Engineer that likes to work with the latest and greatest, likes varied ranging work, and wants to experiment with new technologies.

They are an engineering-first organisation where you’ll help shape a modern cloud-native platform used by millions of people. You’ll work with Kubernetes, Terraform and GCP to build scalable infrastructure, improve developer tooling and continue evolving the platform as the business grows.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, build and maintain scalable cloud-native infrastructure on GCP
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Improve automation, deployment pipelines and operational efficiency
• Build self-service platform tooling that empowers development teams
• Work closely with Software Engineers to deliver reliable platform solutions
• Improve platform security, monitoring and reliability
• Participate in a paid on-call rota supporting platform availability
