Overview

Do you want to your experience and skills to be part of a major programme of technology transformation and simplification? We have an exciting opportunity for a Platform Engineer to join our Data Platforms - Technology Services team where you'll provide engineering delivery and operational support across a range of on premise and cloud middleware technologies.

This is a hybrid role; remote working, and a small amount of onsite presence in our Bradford office. In addition, there is an on-call rota (approx. 1 week in every 5).

About the role

As a Platform Engineer, you will:

  • Enable the business through the delivery of a wide range of Technologies (on premise and Cloud - SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
  • Provide 3rd line support services for business-critical production environments (includes on- call rota)
  • Proactively identify and implement process, automation and orchestration as part of CI/CD initiatives
  • Provide IT capacity and performance management services across the associated technology stack, including security vulnerability and application patching
  • Provide appropriate consultancy services to other Group Projects & IT teams, Business Users
About you

Whilst we don't expect you to know everything from day 1, it is essential to have some knowledge and experience on (at least one) of these technologies on-premise or cloud:

  • SOA, ODI, Hyperion, WebLogic, IDAM or IAM / IDCS, Forms & Reports, BI-Apps or Oracle Analytic Accelerator / Autonomous Data warehouse, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle Connectivity Agent, Hardware Security Modules, Payment Services, Webservers (apache, tomcat)
  • An understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Systems Administration (RHEL 7/8)
  • Experience using these tools for CI/CD (on premise and cloud) such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Git and REST API Client is preferable
  • Knowledge of cryptographic technologies
  • Versatile knowledge and experience of programming and scripting languages such as Python, Java, Shell scripting
  • The ability to embrace new technologies and provide guidance from your own experiences within the team
