Miller Maxwell Ltd. is seeking a Platform Automation Engineer to own and evolve the in-house Python platform that builds and manages our Linux estate. You will advance credentials handling, networking automation, and secure patching in a high-performance setting.

The role focuses on reliability, scalable automation, and tight integration with version-controlled configurations and review processes. London-based, with ample scope to impact production systems from day one.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of strong commercial Python experience with real automation projects.
• Hands-on Linux administration in a production environment.
• Infrastructure automation experience treating config, networking and builds as code.
• Solid Git and peer-review habits.
• A STEM degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Put network and firewall configuration under version control, with changes shipped through peer-reviewed pull requests.
• Speed up patching and lifecycle management across the Linux fleet.

• Sharpen monitoring and alerting so faults are caught before anyone feels them.

Platform Automation Engineer – Python · Linux · Miller Maxwell is working with one of London’s leading high-frequency trading firms. It builds almost all of its own technology in-house, and that includes the infrastructure underneath it

The Platform Automation Engineer will:

• Own and develop the in-house Python platform that builds and manages the Linux estate
• Replace manual credential handling with Vault-compatible secrets management
• Put network and firewall configuration under version control, with changes shipped through peer-reviewed pull requests
• Speed up patching and lifecycle management across the Linux fleet
• Build a repeatable, hardened setup for Windows desktops and select servers
• Improve how internal applications are built, tested and released
• Sharpen monitoring and alerting so faults are caught before anyone feels them

Requirements for Platform Automation Engineer:

• 5+ years of strong commercial Python, writing real automation rather than occasional scripts
• Hands-on Linux administration in a production environment
• Infrastructure automation experience, treating config, networking and builds as versioned, reviewable code
• Solid Git and peer-review habits
• A STEM degree or equivalent

Nice to have

• Financial services, or any demanding low-latency environment
• Exposure to secrets management tools such as Vault
