Job summary

Saica Group UK, including the Wigan site for our Flex division, is seeking a Mounter and Print Support Operative to join our print team. You will mount printing plates, apply backing tape, and ensure accuracy to customer specifications while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The role follows a 12-hour shift pattern on a rotating 4-week cycle, with nights and days. Prior production or print experience is valued and fluent English is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a print manufacturing environment is beneficial.
• Experience in a production environment is essential.
• Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards.
• Fluent English with ability to understand and communicate work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards including BRC, ISO & A2 environmental.
• Organise workload in line with the daily print programme, ensuring work is delivered against targets and customer requirements.
• Locate and inspect plates.
• Apply and strip backing tape to sleeves using applicator/demounter.
• Mount printing plates onto sleeves, ensuring dimensions align with customer specifications.
• Demount plates; operate plate cleaner and ensure plates are cleaned prior to filing.
• Store and identify printing plates for future use.
• Ensure all established quality standards are met.
• Assist with production operations and maintenance of relevant equipment.
• Ensure mounting is organised in line with production schedule and not more than 48 hours in advance.

Mounter And Print Support Operative – About The Role

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Mounter and Print Support Operative to join our team.

Mounter And Print Support Operative – Responsibilities

• Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards including BRC, ISO & A2 environmental.
• Organise your workload in line with the daily print programme, ensuring work is delivered against targets and customer requirements.
• Locate and Inspect Plates
• Apply and Strip backing tape to sleeves using Applicator/Demounter
• Mount printing plates onto the appropriate sleeves, ensuring compliance with the dimensions agreed with the customer, as required
• Demount Plates
• Operate Plate Cleaner and ensure plates are cleaned prior to filing, completing and signing the relevant control
• Operate Parts washer
• Store and identify printing plates for subsequent use as required.
• Ensure that all established quality standards are met.
• Assist with production operations as and when required including the maintenance and upkeep of relevant equipment.
• Ensure that mounting is organised in line with the production schedule and no more than 48 hours in advance, as the plan is flexible and subject to change.
• Review stock of Tape, Plate Wash & Anilox cleaner and order as required.
• Check Orders, plates, process control, paperwork and any required GMG in advance of the plan, to enable production operate effectively. Ensure the Shift Manager is notified immediately of anything missing.
• Previous experience in a print manufacturing environment beneficial
• Previous experience in production environment essential
• Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting
• Fluent English – ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and understand both written and verbal work instructions

Print Roles Operate Across The Following Shift Patterns

Print Assistants operate the F&K and W&H machines, they will work a 12 hour shift pattern, spread over a rotating 4 week cycle. This will typically be:

Week 1 – 4 nights, 3 off

Week 2 – 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights

Week 3 – 3 off, 4 days

Week 4 – 7 off

A reasonable level of fitness is required as the role involves some physical activity e.g. lifting & bending.
