Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Specialist Doctor (on a full-time basis) based at North Tyneside General Hospital and supporting the delivery of our trust wide service.
Plastic Surgery is a high throughput department having 3 full time and one part time consultants. We are looking to appoint another consultant. It provides services for skin cancer management, immediate and delayed breast reconstruction, hand surgery services, limb reconstruction, plastic surgery support to general surgeons for perineal wound reconstruction as well as complex abdominal wall reconstruction. We have plans to expand further by adding an MOHs service, sentinel lymph node biopsy, as well as to establish lymphedema services. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to provide support in all such activities especially skin cancer management and reconstruction.

This job entails providing support to skin cancer services which includes participating in outpatient clinics, and theatre sessions either working with the Consultant, or working independently.
Providing support to breast reconstruction services and participate in microvascular reconstruction to breast or limbs. Participation in MDT meetings, ward rounds and post‑operative flap monitoring. Provide support and education to other members of the team, including the specialist nursing team, for smooth running of the service. Also, to participate in academic activities of the department such as audits, research projects maintaining morbidity and mortality record.

Skin Cancer and its management including pre‑op clinics, operative commitments and post‑operative care under supervision of a consultant.
Attending skin cancer MDT.
Participating in microvascular reconstruction and post‑operative flap monitoring.
Assisting consultants in complex tissue reconstructions.
Participating in monthly departmental teaching activities.
Participating and conducting different audit and research projects.
Participating in CPD events.
