Plant Supervisor - Ready-to-Use Mortar

Location: Croft Quarry, Leicestershire

Pay Rate: £16 per hour + overtime available

365 People are recruiting for an experienced Plant Supervisor to oversee the day‑to‑day operation of a Ready‑to‑Use Mortar batching plant based at Croft Quarry. This is a hands‑on, varied role suited to someone with strong production, safety, and supervisory experience within a manufacturing or construction materials environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Production or Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality operation of the batching plant. You will play a key role in managing production schedules, materials, site activities, and customer collections while maintaining high standards of health, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
Operations and Production
  • Supervise and operate the ready‑to‑use mortar batching plant to meet production volumes, specifications, and delivery schedules
  • Manage daily plant operations, including pre‑start checks, production runs, and end‑of‑day shutdown and cleaning
  • Coordinate raw material ordering and stock control to ensure efficient and cost‑effective production
  • Liaise with the order office and dispatch to plan production and deliveries
  • Operate and oversee mobile plant, including front‑end loading shovels, to manage materials and site logistics
Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
  • Promote a strong safety‑first culture and ensure compliance with all HSEQ standards
  • Carry out site inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks
  • Ensure fixed and mobile plant complies with legislative and company requirements
  • Carry out quality control checks to ensure products meet technical specifications
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across the site
Maintenance and Site Management
  • Carry out and supervise routine preventative and autonomous maintenance
  • Identify and resolve minor plant faults to minimise downtime
  • Supervise visiting drivers and contractors on site
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, stock, and compliance records
Customer Service and Team Supervision
  • Act as the main site contact for customer collections and enquiries
  • Handle customer issues professionally and efficiently
  • Supervise and support on‑site personnel to maintain a productive working environment
About You
Essential
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in an operational, manufacturing, or heavy industry environment
  • Experience with ready‑to‑use mortar, concrete, aggregates, or similar construction materials
  • Good understanding of batching and production processes
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Experience operating mobile plant, such as a front‑end loading shovel
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Confident using computer systems for batching and administrative tasks
Desirable
  • Industry qualifications such as NVQ Plant Operations or IOSH
  • Knowledge of raw material handling and storage
  • Experience carrying out minor plant maintenance and fault diagnosis
