Department: Production & Mechanical Maintenance
Reports To: Facility Manager
As a Plant Operator at the Wissington CO₂ Plant, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the production site. You will oversee plant operations and perform mechanical maintenance to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality production within all environmental, safety, and cost parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all site activities are carried out safely and in line with company and legal standards.
 
- Monitor and adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal production rates and efficiency.
 
- Respond quickly to alarms or process upsets, resolving issues safely and efficiently.
 
- Oversee contractors on-site, including issuing work permits and providing induction training.
 
- Perform routine operational tasks and quality checks.
 
- Ensure maintenance work is properly risk‑assessed and executed safely.
 
- Take primary responsibility for routine maintenance and repair of process equipment, supporting contractors as required.
 
- Contribute to mechanical operations in alignment with budget, schedule, and purchasing processes.
 
- Develop and oversee the mechanical maintenance program, including pressure equipment.
 
- Coordinate daily tasks for the mechanical department.
 
- Supervise and evaluate subcontractor technical services.
 
- Manage spare parts for the department.
 
- Identify technical anomalies and propose preventive actions to improve reliability and product quality.
 
- Participate in mechanical standby/guard duties as required.
 
Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of relevant technical training and authorizations.
 
- Solid understanding of AL techniques.
 
- Trained in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) related to CO₂ operations.
 
- Food Safety and HACCP awareness training.
 
- Strong problem‑solving, technical, and decision‑making skills.
 
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
