Astute's Renewables team are working exclusively with an established Anaerobic Digestion business, who are looking to recruit a Plant/Site Operative for their site in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, working Monday - Fridays with weekend cover and on‑call rota.

The Operator will play a vital role in ensuring the day to day running of the renewable energy plant and comes with a competitive salary, discretionary bonus and excellent training and benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Operative role

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will:

  • Carrying out the day to day operations of the anaerobic digestion plant
  • Working Monday - Friday and being part of an on‑call rota
  • Learning how to use the SCADA control systems to monitor the process
  • Carrying out planned & reactive maintenance of the plant, which will include working on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, pipework etc once trained
  • Feeding fuel into the process using mobile plant such as a telehandler
  • Responding to machine and systems failures once trained
  • General site housekeeping, keeping it clean and tidy
  • Ensuring adherence with health & safety
  • Other duties as required
Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A relevant Engineer degree is desired but not essential
  • Telehandler licence is an advantage
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Personal skills

The Plant Operative role would suit someone who has:

  • Experience working in Anaerobic Digestion or a similar environment such as Agriculture, water treatment, energy from waste etc
  • Experience operating mobile plant such as a telehandler or loading shovel
  • Experience carrying out first line maintenance on processing plant such as pumps & conveyors would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of SCADA or DCS would be an advantage
  • Hard working and happy to work in an environment that processes agricultural waste for renewable energy.
Salary and benefits of the role

Salary up to £34,000 DOE (depending on experience)
