Job summary

Stericycle in the United Kingdom is seeking a Plant/Processing Operations assistant to support day-to-day receipt, treatment and disposal of clinical waste, ensuring maximum plant availability and compliance with procedures and legal requirements.

You will unload vehicles, weigh and move waste, coordinate deliveries, supervise safe handling into containers, operate a forklift if required, and assist the Shift Supervisor and Plant Manager during planned or unplanned stoppages.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic.
• A team player, well able to work effectively under pressure and who is looking for a challenge.
• Good health record.
• Able to work on own initiative.
• Punctual.
• Demonstrate a flexible approach to hours including shift work.

Responsibilities

• Unloading of vehicles and trailers (site specific).
• Weighing and effective manoeuvring of waste on the plant.
• Ensure waste containers are emptied, cleaned thoroughly and stored for collection.
• Coordinate paperwork and reception of deliveries to the plant.
• Oversee safe handling into containers when loose waste is delivered.
• Operate forklift truck if required.
• Participate in plant shutdowns as necessary.
• Maintain operational records and data specific to the job function.
• Draw attention to major defects or safety concerns to management.
• Assist the Shift Supervisor and Plant Manager during breakdowns or stoppages.
• Observe safety notices and work in a safe manner at all times.
• Attend training courses specific to the job as required.
• Additional duties to ensure safe operations of the plant.
• Comply with company health & safety procedures.
