Site Supervisor – Join Our Passionate Horticulture Team!

Work Location: Binsted Nursery (West Sussex).
Job Type: This position is permanent, and full time, working a minimum of 39 hours per week.
Salary Range: from £29,750.76 to £35,124.96 (plus overtime) paid hourly (or salary, depending on experience and ability).

Do you have a passion for plant growing and a desire to work with a motivated team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Site Supervisor to support the site by giving supervision and oversight to the whole site on a day to day basis, ensuring not only are the plants efficiently produced but the staff are supported and sufficiently trained to carry out tasks safely. Supported by the line manager and guided by departmental managers operational needs of cultural, technical or despatch. This is an exciting opportunity for a well organised leader.

What You’ll Do:

As the Site Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Site Mastery: Supervise all aspects at the site including people, crops, buildings, infrastructure and services. Learn quickly and so adapt to new plants, crops, tasks and situations.
  • Team Management: Using initiative and intelligence to get jobs done properly, showing leadership and communication skills when working with others, being able to motivate other staff when leading teams.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards while working closely with your team to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
  • Administrative Tasks: Computer literate including: Email, Excel, Word etc.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in commercial plant propagation
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy in record-keeping
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Leadership: the ability to direct others effectively to achieve goals..
  • IT: Use of Excel spreadsheets and PIVOT tables, in addition to use of other Microsoft Office programmes, using horticultural production software (e.g. Passfield), understanding of despatch systems, Grower Interface.
  • Full UK Driving Licence, and access to own vehicle.
  • Knowledge and ability to propagate and grow a wide range of plants is desirable.
  • Forklift, counterbalance, PA1 and PA6 certification are desirable.
