Plant Mechanic

A great opportunity for an experienced Plant Mechanic to service and repair forklifts and plant machinery across North Wales and the Northwest, offering varied field-based work, technical problem-solving and a provides a great work–life balance.

Salary

£27,500 to £34,500 per annum + Bonus + Overtime + Company Van + Benefits (see below)

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Plant Mechanic to join a growing service team supporting material handling and plant machinery across the region.

As a Plant Mechanic you will carry out inspections, servicing, troubleshooting and repairs on forklifts and similar equipment, while enjoying a good work–life balance with limited overtime.

The role of Plant Mechanic offers excellent variety, allowing you to use your hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills while delivering high‑quality engineering support across customer sites.

Duties
  • Repairs and Servicing: Working on forklifts and plant machinery
  • Fault Diagnosis: Using diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues
  • Preventative Maintenance: Ensuring machinery remains in safe working order
  • Parts Replacement: Repairing or replacing defective components
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate service and inspection reports
  • Team Collaboration: Supporting other engineers to resolve technical issues
  • Safety Compliance: Following all safety standards and procedures
  • Workshop Standards: Maintaining a clean and organised environment
  • Inspections: Conducting Service Inspections and Thorough Examinations to GN28/UKMHA standards
Candidate Requirements
Essential
  • Industry‑recognised qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems
  • Experience with forklifts, plant machinery or similar equipment
  • A valid driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
  • IT literate
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Desirable
  • Forklift Operator’s Licence
  • Experience with material handling equipment
  • Experience with telematics and CAN bus systems or willingness to learn
