Plant Fitter

Location: Middlesbrough

NEOS Engineering are supporting a well‑established engineering operation in Middlesbrough who are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join their team. This is a hands‑on role within a stable, supportive environment, working across a broad fleet of heavy plant machinery including Dozers, Excavators, Dumpers and Rollers.

This position suits a Plant Fitter who takes pride in their work, enjoys diagnosing faults, and wants a long‑term role within a team that values safety, reliability and professional engineering standards.

The Role

As a Plant Fitter, you will ensure all plant equipment is maintained to a high operational standard, carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostics both independently and within the engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • Service, repair and maintain a wide range of heavy plant machinery
  • Diagnose faults and resolve breakdowns efficiently
  • Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance
  • Ensure machinery remains safe, compliant and work‑ready
  • Maintain strong documentation, inspection reporting and housekeeping standards
  • Work collaboratively with a close‑knit engineering team
Fleet Includes
  • Dozers
  • Excavators
  • Dumpers
  • Rollers
  • Additional heavy plant equipment as required
The Candidate
  • Plant Fitter, Workshop Fitter or Mobile Plant Engineer
  • Confident with diagnostics, fault‑finding and mechanical repairs
  • Able to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Safety‑focused with excellent record‑keeping standards
  • Reliable, organised and committed to equipment uptime
  • Team player with good communication skills
Hours
  • 45 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday — 8:00am to 5:00pm
