We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Plant Fitter to join our high performing team.
REPORTING TO: Plant Manager
LOCATION: Based in our Head Office in Newry, Co Down
CONTRACT TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
HOURS: Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend additional hours available.
Role Responsibilities
- Complete service and maintenance for mechanical and non-mechanical plant and specialist equipment, following manufacture guidelines and company processes.
- Ensure statutory compliance relating to heavy plant equipment.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks and other precision-based maintenance.
- Identify and capture machine damage, investigating and documenting, as appropriate.
- Inspect new plant and equipment and sign off before use on site.
- Ensure company fleet vehicles are always roadworthy and prepare for testing to MOT and NCT standards.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive service and maintenance records via logbooks and databases as required.
- Work closely with the Plant Manager and Office & Logistics Manager to ensure they are aware of problems as they occur, working to solve problems quickly.
- Work closely with and take direction from the Operator team, and support in ordering repair and/or spare parts, maintenance parts, assemblies, and consumables.
- Maintain an inventory of plant tools, manuals, repair parts, assemblies and consumables for use in the workshop, ensuring all items are labelled correctly and stored safely.
- Request purchase orders to be raised for parts for stock.
- Act as a mentor to any junior employees or apprentices who are attached to the Plant Team, sharing knowledge and best practice.
- Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping, ensure areas are free from waste and trip hazards.
- Comply with applicable Safety, Environment, Health, and Waste Management policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The Candidate
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Plant Fitter or similar mechanical repair/maintenance role.
- Knowledge of construction plant and equipment including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic.
- Experience in investigating and diagnosing technical faults.
- Possess a clean driving licence.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Extensive knowledge of all aspect of vehicle repair.
Additional information
- Must have the ability to travel to place of work in Carnbane Industrial Estate in Newry.
- Role is an in-person, on-site role.
- May involve travel to our other sites across the Republic of Ireland
