Skills

Proven experience as a Plant Fitter

Strong working knowledge of Volvo machinery

Strong working knowledge of Komatsu machinery

Strong working knowledge of Bomag machinery

Strong working knowledge of Merlo machinery

Strong working knowledge of Caterpillar machinery

Strong working knowledge of Manitou machinery

Education

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance

Plant Fitter – Birmingham – £27.82 per hour

Overview

VGC Group are looking for an experienced Plant Fitter to start on a project in Birmingham. This contract is available to start on 10/11/2025 and can last up to 3 years for a successful candidate.

Role: Plant Fitter
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £27.82 per Hour
Hours: 7:30am - 5:30pm
Contract: PAYE Contract
Experience: 2 years +
Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification. SSSTS, First Aid, CPCS

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs on a wide range of construction plant machinery.
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
• Respond to breakdowns on-site and carry out emergency repairs efficiently.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Liaise with site teams and supervisors to schedule maintenance and minimize disruption.
• Assist in the inspection and commissioning of new equipment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Plant Fitter in the construction or heavy machinery sector.
• Strong working knowledge of Volvo, Komatsu, Bomag, Merlo, Caterpillar, and Manitou machinery.

Benefits

Based in Birmingham, remuneration for this role is £27.82 per hour, you will accrue holiday entitlement and be eligible to join the VGC pension scheme once certain criteria have been met.
