Job description

Escape Recruitment's client, a leading engineering and manufacturing business based in West Lothian, is seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to join their Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with strong mechanical and project management experience to take ownership of key plant and equipment initiatives, driving continuous improvement and ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

The Role
  • Provide innovative technical solutions to manufacturing challenges through the specification, sourcing, and installation of plant equipment.
  • Design special purpose machinery or modifications to existing systems where required.
  • Manage engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Prepare cost and efficiency assessments for new or replacement machinery and make recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Health & Safety legislation and internal company procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, production, and safety teams to solve day-to-day engineering issues.
  • Visit supplier sites and other company locations as required.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across cost, quality, and safety.
About You
  • A degree in Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Proven experience in a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment, with a strong mechanical bias.
  • Proficiency in CAD design.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of UK and international engineering standards.
  • Awareness of Safety of Machinery Regulations and CE marking processes.
  • Experience with facilities management and project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2) would be advantageous.
