Job summary

A leading energy provider is seeking a dedicated candidate to lead the plant computing capability for Sizewell C. This role involves building and leading a team, defining the plant computing strategy, and ensuring systems support safe operation. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of industrial control systems and experience in operational environments, particularly in nuclear settings. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Suffolk with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job description
Role Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Programme Manager within Pre-Operations, you will lead the development of plant computing capability for Sizewell C. This includes building and leading the plant computing team, defining strategy, processes and standards, and ensuring systems are ready to support safe, efficient operation of the station. You will work closely with Instrumentation and Control, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Commissioning teams, representing the needs of the future operator and bringing operational thinking into every stage of delivery. This role sits at the heart of the project and will influence how plant computing maintenance, reliability and obsolescence management are planned and delivered for years to come.

Responsibilities
  • Building and leading the Plant Computing team through construction, commissioning and into operations
  • Defining and delivering the plant computing strategy in an industrial control system environment
  • Integrating with I&C systems, control rooms, safety related systems and simulators
  • Working alongside commissioning teams to bring the plant safely into service
  • Developing plant computing processes aligned to regulatory requirements and industry best practice
  • Acting as owner and customer for digital and IT tools used by the operational station
  • Developing maintenance schedules, managing budgets and controlling plant computing risks
  • Learning from and aligning with proven approaches used at Hinkley Point C
  • Representing the future operator in project forums and decision making
  • Leading by example and modelling the highest standards of nuclear professionalism
Qualifications
  • An HNC or degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including hardware, software, signal processing and logic diagrams
  • Understanding of nuclear safety culture, regulatory compliance and quality standards
  • Experience of commissioning and operational environments, ideally on a nuclear site
  • Experience using asset management systems and data reporting tools
  • A track record of leading, developing and motivating teams in complex, high pressure settings
  • The confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and challenge constructively

Location & Contract

Location: London, Leiston (Suffolk) or Ipswich (Suffolk) – full‑time presence required. Contract: Permanent, full‑time.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: c£70k depending on experience
  • Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service, plus bank holidays.
  • Bonus: Up to 5% annual bonus.
  • Pension: Defined Contribution Pension Scheme with up to 7.5% employee contribution.
  • Other Benefits: Employer contribution, flexible benefits, additional allowance for a variety of benefits.
