A local government office in Aylesbury is seeking a Planning Technician for a 12-month fixed contract. The role involves providing technical support for planning applications, with opportunities for training and development. Ideal candidates will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. A hybrid working environment is provided, with some office attendance required.
Are you enthusiastic about the role planning plays in place making and shaping the future of Buckinghamshire? Would you like to take your next steps in your career, developing your strong communication and administration skills? If so, then these might be the roles for you! Working within the Technical, Commercial and Innovation Service (TCIS), we have a vacancy for a permanent Planning Technician within our Planning Validation Team. This is a fixed term post for 12 months to cover maternity leave for one of our team, and further details of this post are set out in the Job Description. You will be a part of a wider team delivering specialised planning technical support functions, particularly in processing of new planning applications. No two days are ever the same and you will be supported in your role with a comprehensive training programme covering all of the applications we receive. Although this post will be based within the Planning Validation team there may be opportunities to work across all teams depending on business needs. You will be joining us at an exciting time as we develop the teams and our processes following a recent Service Review. We are also making significant changes to our IT systems over the next year.
We are looking for people with excellent organisation skills, great attention to detail, an ability to be proactive in working to deliver the many deadlines the teams' work involves and who enjoy a challenging but very rewarding workload. You should also be a confident communicator with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ideally you will have an understanding of the planning system, but this is not essential.
