Job description

Planning and Performance Data Analyst

Up to £45,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)

Manchester city centre - in this role you’ll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and the office once per month (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

We’re open to applications from people who may require flexible working arrangements. There’ll be an opportunity to discuss your flexible working requirements during the interview process, and at offer stage.

We’re reshaping our Digital, Technology and Data function for the future, creating new opportunities, strengthening our capability, and building clearer, more resilient ways of working so we can deliver even better services for our Co-op, our colleagues, members and customers.

We're looking for a Planning and Performance Data Analyst to join our Digital Technology Planning & Performance Data team and help us build, maintain and improve the data products, reporting and controls that underpin planning, funding and performance decisions across Technology. You'll play a key role in ensuring our teams have access to reliable, well‑managed data, helping us create accurate, scalable and repeatable insights that support better decision‑making across the business.

Why this role matters

In this role, you'll work with stakeholders from across Technology to improve data quality, streamline processes and create trusted data products that support planning and performance activities. It's a role where you'll be encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities for improvement and help build a more effective, data‑driven organisation. You'll have the chance to influence outcomes, solve complex problems and make a visible impact on how we operate.

What you’ll do
  • Build, maintain and improve data products that support planning, funding and performance activities across Technology
  • Gather, transform and manage data from multiple sources, ensuring it is accurate, consistent and fit for purpose
  • Implement and monitor data quality controls, identifying and resolving issues, inconsistencies and duplication
  • Develop and maintain reporting layers, reusable datasets and standardised measures to support consistent reporting and analysis
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements, gather information and support improvements to data processes and governance
  • Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
  • Maintain clear documentation for datasets, metrics, definitions and data processes to support consistent use across teams
  • Respond to business data needs, providing trusted, well‑structured information that supports effective decision‑making
What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

  • Experience working with data transformation, data quality or data management in a business environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, investigate root causes and improve data accuracy
  • Experience building relationships with stakeholders and gathering requirements from different teams
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, with experience working with large datasets and an interest in tools such as Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps
  • The ability to understand the wider business context behind the data and translate requirements into practical solutions
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently and identify opportunities for improvement

We know some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. At Co-op, we’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we still encourage you to apply.

Why Co-op?

  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
  • Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
