Job summary

Maldon District Council, with Essex County Council support, is recruiting a Planning Officer on a three-month temporary basis. The role requires attendance on-site two days per week to help deliver planning services balancing community, environmental, and regulatory considerations.

Responsibilities include processing planning applications, preparing recommendations, and supporting planning strategies and projects to enable sustainable growth and positive community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Planning or related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Understanding of planning system, legislation, and local/national policies.
• Awareness of sustainable development and public sector customer service standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing planning applications and ensuring compliance with legislation and local policies.
• Prepare reports, recommendations, and planning advice for Members, developers and the public.
• Support development of planning strategies, policies and projects for sustainable growth.
• Maintain accurate records and planning databases, ensuring data protection compliance.
• Contribute to consultations and opportunities for process improvements.
