Job description

A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Planning Officer within the Development Management Service. You will be responsible for a personal caseload comprising a high proportion of major and other planning applications received from across the County. This is a unique and exciting, yet challenging role, that would suit anyone with the requisite requirements. In this role, you will also be required to present reports on behalf of the Service to the Planning Committee, assess and sign off officer reports, assist and mentor officers and technicians and provide advice and guidance where required. If you have a sound working knowledge of the development management process along with a positive attitude and a wish to seek and deliver solutions, then we would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • You should hold a current and valid UK driving license to be able to meet the requirements of the role which will include external and site meetings.
  • You should have a planning related degree and at least 3 years' relevant Planning experience or be able to demonstrate you would meet the requirements for professional accreditation.
  • You must be able to work under your own initiative and also effectively in partnership with Planning colleagues, Developers, Agents, Elected Members, Parish Councils and other stakeholders in order to support the Planning Service.
  • You will have excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
